BOSTON ― The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP has announced that a group of three prominent litigation attorneys has joined its
Boston office as partners.
Geoffrey M. Coan,
Kathleen E. Kelly and
Daniel E. Tranen have all joined from Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker.
“We’re extremely pleased to welcome this fine group of litigators to the firm,” said
Donald L. Mrozek, chairman of the firm. “We continue to increase our national capabilities to handle mass tort, medical products liability and toxic tort litigation.” The firm has added numerous laterals, including this most recent group, to its litigation practice over the past year.
Geoffrey Coan focuses his practice in mass torts and complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on drug and medical device, products liability defense, toxic tort and other complex litigation. He has an extensive background as coordinating counsel for clients in large, multi-district cases and currently serves as national counsel for a generic drug manufacturer and a pharmaceutical company involved in multidistrict litigation. Mr. Coan’s clients include insurance companies, medical device manufacturers, and manufacturers and distributors of various products.
Mr. Coan earned his juris doctor,
cum laude, from Vermont Law School, and his bachelor’s degrees in both insurance and finance from University of Hartford.
Kathleen Kelly is a litigator and trial attorney who focuses her practice in mass tort litigation involving pharmaceuticals and medical devises, as well as products liability, food-borne illness and environmental litigation. Ms. Kelly has served as national coordinating counsel for several medical device and pharmaceutical companies. She has handled cases involving prescription drugs, surgically implanted spinal fixation devices, pain pump infusion devices to deliver local anesthetics for post-operative pain relief, a professionally labeled over-the-counter product, and national and local retailers in a E. coli 0157:H7 outbreak and Campylobacter litigation.
Ms. Kelly holds a juris doctor,
cum laude, from New England School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University.
Daniel Tranen focuses much of his practice in products liability defense. He is national coordinating counsel for B. Braun Medical Inc. on all heparin and flush syringe litigation. Mr. Tranen also worked on a team as national coordinating counsel for I-Flow Corporation in national pain pump litigation. He was named to the attorney “honor roll” for MedMarc Insurance Company in 2010 for his work on the I-Flow litigation. Mr. Tranen also handles litigation involving commercial disputes, professional liability, and ERISA, and insurance coverage disputes.
Mr. Tranen earned his juris doctor,
cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
