By a unanimous City Council vote last evening, national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP was retained to represent the City of St. Charles, Illinois, in connection with the construction of the long-awaited Red Gate Road Bridge Project. A team of Hinshaw attorneys respected for its skill in environmental, construction, and transactional law, among other areas, will oversee the high-profile project. It is anticipated that it will take about two years to complete the bridge across the Fox River.
"Hinshaw has a great deal of experience tackling this type of complicated construction project," said Harvey M. Sheldon, one of the partners on Hinshaw's team. "There are so many different legal challenges that need careful attention, especially when it comes to environmental and community concerns. Our team has the know-how to get the job done and make sure it is done right."
According to the Public Works Director Mark Koenen, the project will include three phases: Phase one will include impact studies on the environment and traffic in the area; Phase Two will include specific development; and Phase Three will entail the actual construction.
Last night, the City Council also approved an agreement to receive partial funding of the project from IDOT in the amount of $1.2 million. The city also hired Robert H. Anderson & Associates Inc. of St. Charles for the engineering studies.
