Boston/July 1, 2005 – Today, national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP opened its 26th office in Boston, Massachusetts, with seven attorneys from the law firm of Cetrulo & Capone LLP and one from Sherin and Lodgen LLP. The attorneys joining the firm in this office enjoy regional and national recognition for their experience and successes in the areas of fidelity and surety, financial institution and commercial bond, construction law, insurance coverage and professional liability litigation.
Five of the new attorneys will be joining as partners and three as associates. The new partners are: Bradford Carver, Paula-Lee Chambers, David Grossbaum, CharCretia Di Bartolo, all from Cetrulo & Capone. The new associates are Jonathan Burwood, Eric Loeffler and Maura McKelvey.
“Hinshaw’s presence on the East Coast has been growing rapidly since our opening in New York two years ago,” said Donald L. Brief, biographical sketches of the partners are as follows:
Bradford Carver is an experienced trial lawyer with a particular emphasis on surety, fidelity and construction litigation. He began his legal practice in 1980 as an attorney in the surety department of Travelers Indemnity Company, and since moving into private practice several years later he has developed a reputation for top-quality representation in the area. Mr. Carver is also experienced in handling bankruptcy, products liability, toxic torts and environmental litigation. Previously he was a founding partner with the Boston law firm of Cetrulo & Capone LLP for 10 years.
Mr. Carver is active in the American Bar Association and several of its committees. He is a member of the ABA's Fidelity and Surety Law Committee, Tort and Insurance Practice Committee, Fidelity and Surety Sub-Committee and the Forum on the Construction Industry. He is also a member of the Surety Claims Institute and the National Bond Claims Association.
Paula-Lee Chambers focuses her litigation practice in the areas of insurance coverage litigation and fidelity and surety matters. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Chambers spent more than 22 years in-house with insurance companies handling claims as a Bond Claims Attorney or in various other supervisory positions. As a Bond Claims Attorney for Hanover Insurance Company, she specialized in surety and fidelity law, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability and fiduciary responsibility insurance. In her other roles, at Hanover as well as with Metropolitan Property and Casualty Company, she specialized in commercial and personal property coverages and surety and fidelity claims. She holds the insurance designations of Associate in Claims (AIC) and Property Claim Law Associate (PCLA).
David Grossbaum is an experienced trial lawyer who concentrates his practice in the areas of professional liability defense, insurance coverage, and fidelity. He has also handled personal injury and product liability cases, and contract surety matters.
Mr. Grossbaum’s insurance coverage work has involved matters throughout the country, and he acts as national and regional coverage counsel for several clients.
Before law school, Mr. Grossbaum was a paralegal for John Doar, former Civil Rights Attorney for the Justice Department and Special Watergate Prosecutor. Upon graduation from law school, he accepted a clerkship with the Superior Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Thereafter, he became an Assistant District Attorney for Essex County, Massachusetts, where he was assigned to both the trial and appellate divisions, arguing numerous cases in the Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court of Massachusetts and trying jury cases. He also held a position as a legal research and writing instructor at Boston University Law School. Mr. Grossbaum is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) where he is a past chair and present member of the New England Steering Committee, and also a member of the National Communications Committee. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association and is active in its Fidelity and Surety Law and Insurance Coverage Litigation committees. Mr. Grossbaum is a past chair, vice chair and Newsletter editor of the Professionals', Officers' and Directors' Liability Committee of TTIPS.
CharCretia Di Bartolo is a trial attorney with a broad litigation practice encompassing employment, insurance coverage, products liability, professional liability, and fidelity and surety litigation. She has represented clients at trial and in motions before the Superior and the District Courts of Massachusetts, the Superior Court of Rhode Island, and the Federal District Court in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, Ms. Di Bartolo has represented clients in the defense of sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination claims both in Massachusetts Federal Court and at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

Jonathan Burwood practices in the areas of surety and construction litigation. He has appeared before both state and federal courts and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Mr. Burwood was president of the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division in 1999.
Eric Loeffler focuses his litigation practice in the areas of construction litigation and fidelity and surety matters. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Loeffler worked as a law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.
Maura McKelvey concentrates her litigation practice in the areas of professional liability defense and insurance coverage litigation. She is also experienced in securities arbitration and admiralty litigation.
