Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP Adds to Florida Presence With Addition of Eight Attorneys From Yoss LLP

Group Includes Real Estate Attorney Neil Rollnick and Bankruptcy Lawyer Charles Tatelbaum

CHICAGO ― Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announces that Neil S. Rollnick, former chair of Yoss LLP’s real estate practice group, and Charles Tatelbaum, former chair of Yoss’ bankruptcy and creditors' rights department, have joined the firm as partners. Joining them are six attorneys who, collectively, practice in the areas of commercial and residential real estate law, and business, civil and commercial litigation.

Mr. Tatelbaum will practice in Hinshaw’s Fort Lauderdale, Florida, office. Mr. Rollnick and the remaining lawyers joining the firm, who include Mitchell R. Bloomberg, Steven C. Cronig, Fernando Garcia, Elizabeth S. Baker, Douglas Wayne Swalina and Jesse Michael Keenan, will be resident in Hinshaw’s Miami office.

But for more than a decade, we have aggressively expanded our business litigation base and diversified further by means of measured, strategic growth of our transactional practice in several locations playing off of our national platform. The addition of this group of highly experienced partners from Yoss will allow Hinshaw to assist more businesses in more ways in Florida, the Southeast and nationally,” remarked Donald L. Mrozek, Hinshaw’s chairman. With the addition of the attorneys from Yoss, Hinshaw will have more than 85 lawyers in four Florida offices and approximately 500 across all of the firm’s 24 offices.

Mr. Rollnick combines his legal expertise with the abilities to strategize, conceptualize, and evaluate risk/reward for clients. He represents clients in commercial real estate and asset-based loans, real estate transactions, corporate and partnership transactions, and business matters. Mr. Rollnick received his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Miami.

Mr. Tatelbaum represents Fortune 150 companies and others in matters involving bankruptcy and creditors’ rights; complex business litigation; transactions and litigation involving the Uniform Commercial Code and other types of secured transactions; and domestic and international letters of credit. He has significant experience in coordinating, planning and carrying out complex business and bankruptcy-related litigation and transactions throughout the United States. Mr. Tatelbaum earned his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Bloomberg handles cases involving business disputes and commercial litigation. He earned his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Miami School of Law, and his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College.

Mr. Cronig focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate development and lender representations. He has handled matters involving complex commercial real estate transactions; commercial leasing; the creation of condominium, fractional/timeshare and homeowners documents and fund and trust investment entities; and secured asset lending. Mr. Cronig earned his LL.M. in taxation from Boston University, his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Vermont.

Mr. Garcia concentrates his practice in the representation of lenders in complex commercial loans; loan workouts; auctions of commercial properties; and representations of developers in construction contract negotiations, creation of residential, commercial and mixed condominiums and providing advice concerning condominium operation and liability issues. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida School of Law, and his B.B.A, with honors, from Florida International University.

Ms. Baker focuses her practice in the area of civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. She earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, and her B.A. from Goucher College.

Mr. Swalina concentrates his practice in the area of business and commercial litigation. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law, and his B.S. from Virginia Tech. Following law school, he served as a law clerk for Hon. Maurice M. Paul, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and later for Hon. Harold E. DeMoss, Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Keenan focuses his practice in the areas of secured finance, GSE housing finance and affordable housing, mixed-use and hospitality development. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law, where he teaches housing law and policy. Mr. Keenan earned his LL.M. from the University of Miami, his J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, and his A.B. from the University of Georgia.
