Practice Focus
Frank Maggio has a wide-ranging business practice with a focus on organization and transactional matters for small to medium-size private companies and the individual entrepreneurs that own and run them. Mr. Maggio’s services range from counseling these companies and individuals on their day-to-day business matters, including real estate and financial matters, to their individual estate planning and succession planning issues.
Professional Background
After graduation from law school, Mr. Maggio started his law practice in South Bend, Indiana with what is today the national firm of Barnes & Thornberg. From there, he went to the legal department of E.I. Dupont Nemours & Company, Inc., then the world’s largest chemical company, in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1968 Mr. Maggio returned to private practice in his home town of Rockford. He joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in November 2002.

Mr. Maggio has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the categories of Small, Closely & Privately Held Business Law; Publicly Held Corporations Law; and Banking & Financial Institutions Law. In the 2010 Leading Lawyers Magazine Business Edition, Mr. Maggio was named among the Top 100 Leading Downstate Business Lawyers in Illinois. In 2009, he was included as one of the Top 50 Downstate Consumer Lawyers in Downstate Illinois by Leading Lawyers Network Magazine Consumer Edition.

In addition, he holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability.

Mr. Maggio is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Winnebago County Bar Association.
Publications and Presentations
Mr. Maggio is the author of Notre Dame and the Game that Changed Football: How Jesse Harper Made the Forward Pass a Weapon and Knute Rockne a Legend, published in July 2007 by Carroll & Graf Publishers, an imprint of Avalon Publishing Group.
