LIVE WEBCAST: Hanging a Shingle? The Dos, Don'ts and Red Flags of Building a Law Practice

October 31, 2012

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP attorney Katie M. Lachter will present "Hanging a Shingle? The Dos, Don'ts and Red Flags of Building a Law Practice" at a WestLegalEdcenter live webcast on October 31, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Attorneys choose to hang a shingle for various reasons, whether to be your own boss or because the economy has left you few other options. Regardless of the reason, solo practitioners (and even small firms and/or partnerships) have to learn how to build a law practice - e.g., attorneys have to find, retain and keep clients. Doing so, however, requires attorneys to be mindful of the ethical (and practical) rules relating to client selection and solicitation. In this seminar, the presenters will address the dos and don'ts in soliciting the "right" clients and will provide red flags to be on the look-out for to ensure attorneys are not setting themselves up for disaster. Finally, the presenters will address how attorneys can accept or reject clients, and how to minimize risk after the relationship has begun.
