David Zajicek is a highly experienced attorney whose practice includes commercial and real estate transactions and related litigation. He represents companies in sales of businesses; mergers and acquisitions; leveraged buy-outs; executive compensation matters; employment law; shareholder disputes, and business succession planning.

As part of his commercial practice, Mr. Zajicek represents major lending institutions as well as borrowers in all types of private and public financing arrangements, including aircraft financing and federal and state New Markets Tax Credit financing.

Mr. Zajicek also has a substantial real estate practice. His clients in this area include major developers, and he has handled zoning and land use matters in more than 30 local communities and governing bodies in the Chicagoland area, including the City of Chicago, and the Cook, DuPage, McHenry and Lake County Zoning Boards, as well as trial work before state courts regarding annexation, zoning, special use permits, wetlands permits, impact fees, storm water management disputes and building permit disputes.

On the trial side of his practice, Mr. Zajicek has tried cases in both state and federal courts, with emphasis on commercial disputes of all types, including shareholder agreements, manufacturer/distributor (and franchisor/franchisee) terminations, construction, condemnation, zoning and land use litigation. Mr. Zajicek, a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP from 1983 to 1987, returned to the firm in April 2007. Previously he was a partner at Holland & Knight, which merged with McBride Baker & Coles in 2003.

In the 2005 inaugural issue of Illinois Super Lawyer magazine, Mr. Zajicek was named as a “Super Lawyer,” a designation awarded by peers to only five percent of Illinois attorneys.

Mr. Zajicek is a member of the Leading Lawyers Network, where he was selected by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of Closely & Privately Held Business Law; Land Use, Zoning & Condemnation Law; and Real Estate Law: Commercial.

In addition, he holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability.

Mr. Zajicek was a Captain in the United States Air Force. He is the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mr. Zajicek has been a guest lecturer on zoning and land use law on several occasions at law conferences sponsored by the International Conference of Shopping Centers, and has taught real estate courses at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
