Daniel A. Trevino

Practice Focus
Daniel Trevino primarily practices in the areas of products liability and transportation litigation. His experience includes the representation of trucking companies, passenger lines, school bus companies, vertical transportation companies, municipalities and manufacturers in personal and catastrophic injury litigation.

Mr. Trevino has handled hundreds of depositions, including those of retained liability, medical and economic damages experts. He has resolved cases through trial, arbitration and mediation.

Mr. Trevino has been a member of the Illinois regional counsel team for a Fortune 500 automobile manufacturer as well as a member of the firm’s national litigation team for a Fortune 500 diversified service outsourcing corporation. He currently represents multi-national electronics and automobile parts manufacturers in product liability litigation.

Mr. Trevino’s victories on motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment have been affirmed by the Illinois Appellate Court in two representative cases: Sevier vs. Mid-American Elevator Company, Illinois Appellate Court, 1st Dist. 2007; Docket No. 1-06-3211 and Fantasia vs. Empress Casino Joliet Corp., Illinois Appellate Court, 1st Dist., 2009; Docket No. 1-06-3211.
Professional Background

Mr. Trevino joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in June 1999. He serves as a coordinator in Hinshaw’s Mentorship and Summer Associate programs.

Mr. Trevino just completed a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI). He is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association.

Mr. Trevino is fluent in Spanish.
Publications and Presentations
Mr. Trevino has authored an article on NAFTA and its effect on the U.S. Trucking industry. He is an editor of the firm’s Transportation Practice Group’s quarterly newsletter, Transportation Law Update.
Community Service Activities
Mr. Trevino serves on the advisory committee for the mentorship program at his alma mater, St. Ignatius College Prep. He has served as a “Principal for a Day” through the Chicago Public Schools program of the same name. Mr. Trevino is also the pro bono legal affairs director for the Edgebrook Community Association.
