Dan Boho has a national trial and mediation practice with verdicts in Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and appearances as pro hac vice counsel in 18 states. Mr. Boho is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and handles high profile, media-intensive matters.

Crain's Chicago Business featured Mr. Boho as one of six lawyers honored as Chicago's best lawyers in, "Chicago's Best, on the record."

Mr. Boho has worked to increase alternate dispute resolution / mediation efforts within the court system and has spoken nationally, and co-authored a treatise, on this topic. Inside Litigation magazine states that Mr. Boho's alternative dispute resolution practice has "a significant impact in litigation practice in the United States."

For 21 years Mr. Boho has served as National Litigation Counsel for a Fortune 500, United States-based international service company, and as primary state counsel for one of the largest transportation companies in the United States. Regarding commercial disputes, Mr. Boho has served as the chairman of the commercial litigation section of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
Representative Cases
Mr. Boho represented the building management in litigation arising from the Cook County Headquarters fire in which six people died and 16 were injured. The Governor of Illinois and the President of the Cook County Board appointed commissions headed by the former director of FEMA and the former counsel to President Clinton, respectively, to study this fire. (Media attention about this litigation was extensive.)

In July 2008, Mr. Boho successfully defended the East Bank Club in a personal injury case involving a plaintiff with an incomplete quadriplegic injury. The jury reached a no liability verdict in favor of the East Bank Club where the plaintiff had asked for $16,500,000.

Mr. Boho represented the fire alarm monitoring company in the $140,000,000 John Deere warehouse fire in Davenport, Iowa.

Mr. Boho represented building ownership in the high-profile Hancock scaffold litigation involving three deaths and numerous injuries.

Mr. Boho represented LaSalle Bank in the major 2004 highrise fire at LaSalle Bank’s headquarters.

Mr. Boho represented a media conglomerate in an alleged sexual assault case arising from a radio station “date” promotion. The case was followed nationally by CNN, Fox and Inside Edition.

Mr. Boho represented a 13-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted at the United States Air Force Academy while attending a summer camp sponsored by the Air Force. This matter was a part of the cadet scandal at the Air Force Academy and Mr. Boho's case and client were profiled on "20/20" and discussed in a front page article in The New York Times Sunday edition.

Mr. Boho advised one of the major transportation companies in the country on legal concerns arising from the post 9/11 anthrax scare.
Professional Background
Mr. Boho joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in May 1977. He is a 22 year member of Hinshaw's executive committee, regional director of the firm's litigation practice and a leader of its defense litigation practice group.

He has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the categories of Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury Defense Law and Products Liability. In addition, Mr. Boho holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability. Mr. Boho is also a board member of the national Client Advisory Board for LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell.

Since 2005, Mr. Boho has been named annually to the Super Lawyer list in the area of Business Litigation by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine. He is listed in "Who’s Who in American Law," "Who’s Who in America" and "Who’s Who in the World."

Mr. Boho is a co-author of "Winning Legal Strategies for Alternative Dispute Resolution: ADR Best Practices for Arbitration, Mediation, and Contract Resolution," which is part of the Inside the Minds™ series, published by Aspatore Books in 2006. He is also the author of a National Litigation Case Study published in a treatise by West Publishing and sponsored by the American Corporate Counsel Association entitled, "Successful Partnering Between Inside and Outside Counsel." In addition, Mr. Boho is a Key Author in West Publishing’s Key Author Program.

He has been quoted on legal management issues in the National Law Journal, Inside Litigation and The Chicago Lawyer. Mr. Boho has appeared on ABC television on the resolution of tort matters, and on CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox on pending cases.
