“Counseling Clients in Financial Distress,” an article written by Hinshaw partner, Steven H. Silton, has been published in the Minnesota State Bar Association’s magazine, Bench & Bar of Minnesota. The piece appears in the August 2009 issue of the publication. The article can be accessed at http://www2.mnbar.org/benchandbar/2009/aug09/financial.html.
In the article, Mr. Silton advises commercial lawyers that, “Understanding the psychology of failure, particularly when the failure of a business involves individuals who have a history of spectacular success, is equally or more important than addressing their financial circumstances.” Mr. Silton goes on to discuss how, “Counsel who can identify and address the psychological, ethical, and spiritual aspects of a situation will not only facilitate the restructuring of a clients’ financial affaires and have a positive effect on the individuals personal well-being, but may recycle the occasional soul.”
Mr. Silton represents small to mid-sized corporations, banks, credit unions and financial groups in commercial and complex bankruptcy matters. He also frequently consults with other lawyers, accountants and professionals on their clients in financial distress.
