Christy L. Hoop
Christy Hoop focuses her practice in the areas of school law and commercial litigation.
A substantial portion of Ms. Hoop’s practice involves the representation of school districts. She counsels school districts on contracting, student and staff personnel issues and school-related litigation matters. In addition, Ms. Hoop provides counsel to school districts in regard to the confidentiality of public records and performs comprehensive policy reviews on various matters regarding school operations.
In the area of commercial litigation, Ms. Hoop represents her business clients in litigation relating to commercial disputes as well as employment matters. Ms. Hoop has extensive experience in defending corporate clients against unemployment insurance benefit claims before the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
In addition, Ms. Hoop has substantial experience in the areas of health care fraud and abuse defense, false claim/qui tam litigation and has dealt extensively with the False Claims Act.
Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in June 2000, Ms. Hoop served as an attorney for the firm of Harrington, Thompson, Acker & Harrington, Ltd. litigating matters pursuant to the Federal Employers’ Liability Act.
Ms. Hoop is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Illinois Association of School Boards.
Ms. Hoop is an active member in a Business Community Educational Partnership Program with Naperville Community Unit School District No. 203 wherein she serves as a regular guest speaker on education law-related curriculum topics, mentors students and serves as a judge in the District’s mock trial advocacy program.
