Brendan A. O'Brien

Brendan O’Brien focuses in construction and medical malpractice defense.

He has trial and arbitration experience in subjects as diverse as railroad litigation and reinsurance arbitration, and is responsible for preparing and arguing substantive motions before state and federal courts.
Professional Background
Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in June 1999, Mr. O'Brien was an Appropriation and Research Analyst for the Illinois House of Representatives Democratic House Majority in Springfield, Illinois. He was responsible for reviewing and analyzing legislative bills, writing synopses and preparing budgetary reports for House of Representative members.

In addition to his other law school achievements, Mr. O’Brien won the Second Best Brief in the John Marshall Herzog Competition. He was a finalist in the John Marshall Herzog Oral Argument Competition and was elected to the Golden Key National Honor Society.

In 2008 and again in 2009, Illinois Super Lawyers magazine named Mr. O’Brien to its Rising Star list. Recipients of this award have practiced law for less than 10 years or are 40 years old or younger. Mr. O’Brien holds the BV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell for ethics and legal ability.

Mr. O’Brien is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and the Asian Bar Association.
