Mr. Lopes is an attorney within the Product Liability practice group. With experience in medical malpractice and representing banking institutions in contract and foreclosure cases, Mr. Lopes is able to manage the complexities of product liability in order to achieve a positive outcome for the client.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in April 2017, Mr. Lopes practiced at several New York-based firms. Most recently, he was an associate in the New York branch of a commercial and business litigation firm based in Irvine, California. Working with the real estate litigation group, Mr. Lopes handled all aspects of foreclosure, title and real estate contract cases. He also appeared in court for settlement conferences and conducted depositions of all parties. Before that, Mr. Lopes was an associate at Manhattan's oldest and largest medical defense firm. Working from the firm's New York location, he managed the case discovery process and represented medical providers at defendant depositions. Mr. Lopes was a law clerk at the headquarters of a broad service firm in Albany while in law school. As a legal intern for the Honorable Justice Edward O. Spain (retired), State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department, Mr. Lopes assisted in drafting opinions and memoranda. During law school, Mr. Lopes was the Associate Editor of the Albany Law Review. Additionally, he was awarded Best Appellate Brief in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition, was a teaching assistant for Professor James D. Redwood's "Constitutional Law" class, and served as class representative in his final year of law school.
