Matthew Snyder focuses his practice in the defense of matters involving general liability, automobile negligence, premises liability, insurance, and coverage issues. Mr. Snyder also handles appellate matters, commercial collections, breach of contract and/or warranty, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act matters and Indiana Motor Vehicle Protection Act claims.
Mr. Snyder is involved in all phases of the litigation process, from the litigation prevention phase through pre-suit assessments, settlement negotiations, discovery, depositions and trial. Mr. Snyder's clients include standard and nonstandard insurance companies along with automobile manufacturers, and he is actively involved with a network of automobile dealerships, often speaking at service club meetings and providing one-on-one counsel to assist these dealers in handling their problem customers before they have the chance to become plaintiffs. In addition, Mr. Snyder has substantial experience with the mechanical nature of automotive defense and often works hands-on with experts when necessary.
Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in December 2016, Mr. Snyder was for eight years an attorney at a defense litigation boutique in Crown Point, Indiana where he also clerked during law school. In addition, Mr. Snyder clerked at a firm in St. John, Indiana, and was also a law clerk to the Honorable (retired) Jeffery J. Dywan, Superior Court, Lake County, Indiana.
During law school, Mr. Snyder was a member of the Valparaiso Mock Trial Team, the Sports Law Clinic and the Business Law Society.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Snyder worked in manufacturing and information risk management consulting.

Matthew has personally tried multiple bench trials and sat second chair in several jury trials. He has defended matters involving general liability, automobile negligence, premises liability, insurance, and coverage issues. He has also argued dispositive motions and post-judgment fee petitions in Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act matters and Indiana Motor Vehicle Protection Act claims throughout the State of Indiana.
Mr. Snyder often develops and delivers presentations to his clients on best practice approaches to avoid becoming litigants.
Matthew resides in Crown Point, Indiana with his wife and two kids.
