Joyce Riekena assists attorneys with all phases of medical malpractice litigation.

Ms. Riekena has been a licensed Registered Nurse since 1978. She has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of nursing fields, including medical/surgical, oncology and pediatrics. More than 15 years of her experience has been in collaborative management and administration of surgery and such perioperative services as ambulatory surgery, operating room PACU (Phases I and II), central sterilizing, PAT departments and GI labs.

Professional Background

Ms. Riekena joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in September 2011. Previously she was the Assistant Director of Surgical Services at Des Peres Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri, where she was in charge of 11 operating room suites.

She has worked at a number of hospitals throughout her nursing career, including Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where she was the Director of Perioperative Services; Hopedale Medical Complex, as the Director of Nursing Surgical Services; Kewanee Hospital, as the Executive Director of Patient Care Services; Graham Hospital, as a department head of an ambulatory clinic and previous 15 years of operating room staff nursing; and St. Francis Medical Center, as an assistant charge nurse.
