Angey Rothwell is a litigation paralegal experienced in labor and employment matters, including class actions and appeals. She is also experienced in assisting with other areas of litigation; specifically: business transactions, commercial, construction/construction defect, products liability and toxic tort matters.
Ms. Rothwell's skill-set is highlighted by her use of technology in all phases of litigation, including discovery and trial. She is conversant with the use of social media sites and networks for completion of a multitude of tasks related to the defense of employment litigation, including skip-tracing first and third party witnesses, juror research and consulting and analysis of deposition testimony.
Ms. Rothwell not only collects data but analyzes and interprets it for cohesive use in case work-ups. She assists on the labor litigation team for California Pizza Kitchen, Gene Watson Construction, and Mel’s Diners, among others. She previously assisted in a number of cases, including labor litigation for Sprint, PPG Laboratories, and Banco Popular. Ms. Rothwell also provided support for an intellectual property case related to former employees for Lockheed Martin.
Ms. Rothwell joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in October 2008. Prior to joining Hinshaw, she was a paralegal at K&L Gates, where she was the sole litigation paralegal responsible for supporting their construction practice and labor groups. She was also responsible for in-house technical support for a number of software products, including Concordance. Ms. Rothwell worked for a boutique insurance subrogation firm and prior to that she worked for Augustini & Wheeler, assisting with their business litigation practice. Very early in her career which started in the legal industry in 1999, Ms. Rothwell worked as a library/research assistant at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles, and Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw in Houston, Texas.
Ms. Rothwell is a voting member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association, the Ventura County Paralegal Association and the Orange County Paralegal Association. She holds an affiliate membership with the National Association of Legal Assistance and an associate membership with the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Ms. Rothwell also participates in human resource professional associations and resources, such as PIHRA and HR Guard.
Ms. Rothwell is an active volunteer with Girl Scouts of the USA, where she is a troop leader of seven years, and service unit delegate. She has received a number of awards for her work with the Girl Scouts, including Outstanding Leader & Volunteer, Leader with a Heart, the Appreciation Pin, President’s Volunteer and the Juliette Award. Ms Rothwell has organized several events wherein she hosted over 120 girls and leaders; volunteered for many other event workshops with girls; and through her scouting experiences has volunteered for other organizations/events such as Calabasas Classic, SOVA Food Bank, Brookdale Senior Living, Jewish Home for the Aging, Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship and the Motion Picture Home. She served on the board of her children’s' middle school parent association and serves as an active volunteer for two different schools in the West San Fernando Valley.
