CHICAGO ― Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced today that partner Kevin Joseph Burke has been appointed to Vice Chairman of the firm with immediate effect. As the firm’s first-ever Vice Chairman, Mr. Burke will work closely with Hinshaw’s Chairman and Managing Partner to implement firm-wide strategies and initiatives.
Mr. Burke has been active in firm management as a member of the firm’s Management Committee since 2003. He also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.
“Hinshaw’s commitment to strategy and implementation has enabled our success, stability and growth as a firm through the decades, even through the most competitive and challenging of times in the legal industry,” said Donald L. Mrozek, Hinshaw’s Chairman for the past 19 years. “The new role of Vice Chairman will ensure a consistent and dedicated focus to strategy as a firm priority into the future.”
“Kevin has established himself as an integral force on our management team, and has earned the respect of the partners through his diligent, hands-on work to advance our strategy and various key initiatives,” said Mr. Mrozek. “His contributions made his appointment a natural next step. I’m pleased to congratulate Kevin on his important new management role and look forward to continuing to work with him in this capacity.”
An experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Burke will continue his current legal practice in his role as Vice Chairman. His legal experience has included representation and trials involving drug and medical lawsuits, commercial and business disputes, construction litigation, employment and governmental civil rights actions.
Mr. Burke joined Hinshaw in March 1984. He earned his J.D. from New England School of Law in 1982, and his B.A. from Boston College in 1978.
Since 2006, Mr. Burke has been named annually to the Super Lawyer list in the area of Civil Litigation Defense by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine. In August 2008, he was selected for inclusion in the August 2008 Corporate Counsel Edition of Super Lawyers magazine.
His professional memberships include the Society of Trial Lawyers, Illinois Defense Counsel, Chicago Inn of Court, Defense Research Institute (Drug and Medical Device Committee), Illinois Bar Foundation and the American Bar Association.
